“Rania Harrara is a strong advocate for female empowerment, peace, and human rights. She founded two organizations with goals to challenge the status quo, promote women on the sports field, and shed light on “taboo subjects” like mental health. Being Mentally healthy for me is being able to say I am not okay and seeking help to get better. It is being emotionally well and feeling good in my shoes.”

RIYA BHUTA

THRIVE WITH REVIVE HOST

“Hi everyone! My name is Riya Bhuta and I am currently a junior from New Jersey! In my free time I love to play tennis, watch Bollywood movies and listen to music! I believe mental health is an extremely important topic within our society today and it is especially important to bring awareness to the topic considering many communities as well as schools do not recognize nor enforce it! I believe that by working together as a team we will be able to shed light on many of this issues and encourage others to join the fight!”

ANNA TRUONG

HOST OF THRIVE WITH REVIVE

“Mental health has been one of my biggest passions growing up. I don’t want anyone to go through difficult mental challenges alone, so I do my best to help. Healing takes time, but having a great source of support and a helpful set of coping skills can improve one’s self-esteem.”

Our well-being as a whole depends on our mental health and stability. Romanticization of mental illness should not be tolerated. I believe that mental well-being is a sensitive issue that needs a lot of attention and should be taken seriously by everyone.”

JIEAH MARIS T. HILARIO

HOST OF THRIVE WITH REVIVE

“I am Jieah, a 15-year old high school sophomore who is passionate about studying psychology and mental health. For as long as I can remember, I was fascinated with my thoughts and emotions and how they affected my life. I have gone through trauma and have witnessed how being mentally unhealthy could destroy my relationships, my reputation, and even my future. I also have many personal connections with people who have gone through issues mentally, and they and I have faced the stigma on mental health and have been harmed by its impact. Therefore, I want to become part of the change that shines light on the importance of mental health, dispels the shame that those who struggle mentally bear every day, and brings back love, empathy and mental healing to the lives of all persons who need it.”

ALHANA NAWAR

PODCAST EDITOR

“Hey! I am Alhana. I am a fifteen year old girl, who’s travelled a good deal and lived in multiple countries, so I do have quite a bit of a global experience . Being born in Bangladesh and moving to Australia nine years later and recently migrating to Canada, I’ve evolved into the culture loving, homey, clumsy gal that I am today. I’m passionate about a number of things- reading and watching movies/shows related to current problems that are impacting our generation such as racism, stereotypes, LGBTQI issues, global warming, effects of fake news on people and more I’m also passionate about Science, especially chemistry and as well as English and Drama. My dream is to either go into a scientific field or a media field or maybe one that merges the two together. As for mental health, it is the core of everything for me. One’s mental health is such a significant factor of one’s life that it influences life changing decisions for you. Your mental health will impact whether you choose to eat breakfast or not, drink water or not, sleep well or not or even choose to have a good laugh or not. Which is why it is extremely to educate every single person about mental health as a whole and make ample of resources and support available for everyone suffering with mental health. It is not an issue to be taken lightly and it is not something to be ashamed of if you don’t have a good mental health. Rather it is something that needs to be talked about much more freely and openly.”

SMERA PATTANAIK

PODCAST EDITOR

“My name is Smera Pattanaik and I am a student in Canada. I love to paint and some of my hobbies include art, graphic design, and anime. I believe mental health is important in every stage of life. A healthy mind lets you learn, grow and understand each other. Mental health means having ways to deal with your feelings even when things are hard. Good mental health isn’t about feeling happy and confident all the time and ignoring any problems. It’s about living and coping well despite your problems. Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. Everyone has mental health but not everyone experiences a mental illness. But, everyone will struggle or have a challenge with their mental health sometime in their life.”
